On a successful day, the largest sports and wellness festival in South America, WellFest, was held for the first time in our country on November 19 and 20 at the Sports City of the San Sebastián University, an unprecedented experience where sport and a healthy life were invited to the event, in a 100% outdoor space.
The event brought together leading players and institutions in this field, with the mission of inspiring people to lead a more balanced and happy life.
More than 20 sports disciplines were divided into six stages where attendees could take classes in yoga, dance, tennis, fitness boxing, functional training, martial arts, archery, calisthenics, meditation and more. Energy Club and UFC Gym developed cycling, strong fit and MMA classes, providing an approach to disciplines that are not so well known and that develop both physical and mental work.
On Saturday it was the turn of the physical education teacher Maite Jiménez who together with Lucila Vit were in charge of motivating the attendees. “What motivated us to be part of Wellfest is the lack of spaces and physical contact that was lost with the pandemic. There was a need for a place to meet friends and family, which is something that has been neglected. We must establish this type of event in the sports culture of the country”.
It was an energetic day that was marked by the connection with the now together with the wonderful class of “The art of living”. For children, a sports sector was set up, while those over 16 years of age were able to participate together with the national boxer Juan Pablo Meza in a live demonstration with his coach.
To take a sports break, a soccer match between the legends of Colo Colo against the Chilean Paralympic 7-a-side soccer team could be seen on the main field.
On Sunday Antonella Orsini opened the day with a yoga class, while gymnast Tomás González accompanied by his school delighted the attendees with acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics presentation. In addition, all the energy of the dancer Rodrigo Díaz who was in charge of the great closing of the festival.
The activities began at 9:30 in the morning and lasted until 7:00 p.m. Those who were part of Wellfest Chile were able to visit the stands of healthy advice and physical exams, a great fair where experiences, products and services were offered.
Pedro Covarrubias, Commercial Director of Ciudad Deportiva USS referred to what this weekend was like: “For us as Ciudad Deportiva USS this festival has been a tremendous experience, and reflects our main objective: that the community can have a wide variety of sports and activities to do as a family, in good facilities and with a lot of energy. It was a very nice weekend for us and we applaud this initiative, which was appreciated by all the people who came”.
In a day focused on the soul, body and mind, and in the search for a fuller and happier life, Franco Abello and Gianfranco Corcione, the organizers of WellFest, also commented: “We are very happy with the experience that was generated at WellFest, where friends, families and even pets were happy and motivated to be part of this sport and wellness festival. We hope to continue creating spaces that improve people’s quality of life.”
