The Vatican inaugurates a monumental Christmas and Nativity tree

The tree of Christmas this year is a majestic white fir and comes from Rosello, a city in the Abruzzo region of Italy.

With the switched on of Christmas decorations, the tradition started by the Pope Juan Pablo II in 1982 in the Vatican.

The tree is decorated with christmas decorations created by children from the Quadrifoglio residential psychiatric rehabilitation center.

Residents of the Sant’Antonio senior center in Borrello and students from Pizzoferrato, Quadri and Villa Santa Maria also collaborated.

For its part, the nativity scene is made entirely of wood and comes from Sutrio, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.

Due to bad weather in the region, the ceremony annual event for the festive season was held inside the Paul VI Hall of the Vatican.
