LONDON.- The king charles iii held a hearing on Tuesday with Rishi Sunak in which officially appointed him Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. During the meeting, a small detail caught the attention of the spectators: the new Conservative leader wore a red bracelet

It is believed that string bracelet is linked to his Hindu faith and can be a rakhia ceremonial bracelet symbolizing the sibling life protection. The bracelet is also known as Raksha Bandhanwhich in Sanskrit literally means “the loop or knot of protection”.

The correspondent of GuardianAina Khan tweeted: “When I spoke to Sayeeda Warsi yesterday, she told me that unlike other British Indian politicians, Sunak was proud of his heritage and his faith. Did anyone see the string bracelet on Rishi Sunak’s arm as he waved outside number 10? It is a bracelet traditionally worn by Hindus to protect themselves”.

Twitter user Uma Nayer responded: “I have also seen Rishi wearing rakhis. A string bracelet that sisters give to their brothers in Raksha Bandan.”

The party is a celebration of love and brotherhood between brothers and loved ones. You don’t have to be a brother or sister to participate, and close friends can become honorary siblings.

Sunak bracelets have made headlines in the past. As finance minister, in 2021, he was seen wearing a bracelet that read Love DADA while holding up the famous red box containing his Downing Street spending plans.

The bracelet was made for him by his daughters, Krishna and Anushkawho joined him in campaigning for the leadership race against Liz Truss over the summer.

His fondness for bracelets has earned the new prime minister even a following in the style magazine GQwhere designer Oliver Spencer stated in 2020: “I like it [también] the fact that you can see several bracelets sticking out of his shirt sleeve: it shows you that there is more to him than the political veneer lets you know”.
