Christian Pulisic did not have a good relationship with the former coach of the Chelsea, Thomas Tuchelwho was recently fired and on the eve of his autobiography, the American player revealed that he was very upset with the German during the semifinal of Champions League.
Tuchel promised the American striker to be a starter in the Vuelta of the semi against real Madrid in 2021, since he scored in the Ida that tied at one goal; however, he did not fulfill it and gave him a chance Kai Havertz.
“What happened before that game it was very disappointing for me. I had a good first leg game and the next game was against Fulham in the league. Tuchel told me that he was going to rest for the Vuelta match and that’s why I didn’t play a minute against Fulham”, he says in his autobiography that will go on sale on October 18, entitled ‘Christian Pulisic: My Journey So Far’
“The day of the Vuelta semi-final, Tuchel told me that he changed his mind and I was going to put Kai (Havertz). Honestly I was dumbfounded and very disappointed. I thought I had earned start, and most importantly, he assured me that I was going to start. By the time he got me into the game with 25 minutes left, I was pretty pissed off.”
Pulisic He also revealed that his goal against the meringues came in a play in which he disobeyed Tuchelwho yelled at him not to move, but ended up doing what he thought would be best.
“the untold story behind that goal is that when (Antonio) Rudiger he has the ball, I can see he’s looking to play it over the top and I started running to get behind the baseline of the Madrid“, revealed.
“But when I go running, I hear Thomas Tuchel scream from the side: ‘Christian, stay in the area, do not run!’ But I had a feeling that I would find the space and make it to the end of the pass, so I kept running.
“I cut ahead of Nacho and behind (Raphaël) Varane. When the ball came to me I thought I was going to have to shoot right away, but then I realized that I had much more time than I thought because Nacho had run to cover the goal line and Varana I was more concerned with marking the arrival in the area of (Timo) werner”.
“So I thought that would create a better angle for me by surrounding Courtois and then being able to choose my place,” he added.
According to Sportsmail, Tuchel had enough the players with their yelling and complaining during the games, so they did not like to play on the side of the bench in which the German strategist, who was fired on September 7, was positioned.
