As time progresses, the arguments that the Mexican team to presume superior to USA they are finished Today reality dictates that the stars and stripes continue to grow, and one of the signs is that its staff already surpassed in value that of the Tri.

According to the list of the 100 most valuable selections in the world, made by the specialized site Transfermarkt, the value of the United States team is already higher than that of Mexico. The squad led by Gregg Berhalter is priced at €209 million (not counting his figure, Christian Pulisic), while the Tricolor has an estimated value of €208 million among the 31 players that Gerardo Martino called for the tour of Girona.

The most valuable names of each country are Christian Pulisic (valued at 38 million euros), and Hirving Lozano (valued at 30 million euros). One plays for Chelsea, in the most competitive league in the world; the other is a regular but not essential player in Serie A.

Both nations are located in position 24 and 25 respectively, they are far from fighting with the great powers who exceed the value of one billion euros (in the case of England and Brazil). “The fight” is between them and it seems that Mexico continues to lose that advantage that previously seemed indisputable.

The quantity that was expressed as a differential factor is only the surface of the problem—for the Tri—. The value of both teams is similar, but not the quality of their players. One element can cost the same as the other, the difference lies in its development and potential: while one is sold to a club in Europe to grow, there is another that only packs its bags to move within the MX League.

In Mexican football there are internal movements of more than 10 million per national product (Rodolfo Pizarro case), and soccer players are overvalued, which completely stops comprehensive development.

A clear example is that of Jesus Angle, defense of Tigers. According to the same portal, the cats disbursed about €7 million to get your letter and services. Yes, he has played with one of the best squads, but at 24 years old it seems that his future is no longer in foreign lands, especially since Gerardo Martino you don’t consider it a titular element in your schema.

Secondly, joe scallyis a 19-year-old North American winger who belongs to Borussia Monchengladbach; came when she was barely 18 for a modest price of 2 million euroshis club, New York City, gave him all the possibilities for his departure.

Statistics dictate that both United States National Team As the Tricolor They are close in value. But the reality is that one country inflates its elements to appear to be of world quality, and another rates them fairly in order to be able to export them to European football, and thus have a better development.

The evaluation of players can indeed be a parameter of quality in today’s football. Perhaps that is why in Mexico they try to raise the price of the players, to pretend that they are “cracks” when they really do not have figure wood —in some cases—.

It is not that a Mexican player cannot reach high costs, the problem is that those that are of average quality are quoted in exaggerated figures for the conditions they have. It is no coincidence that in the leagues of the old continent only there are 22 mexicans distributed. Instead, there over 70 American soccer players in European competitions.

Who has the real pearls

The Mexican National Team always boasts of its history, of Hugo Sanchezof Rafael Marquez, but today who is the standard that can be boasted? Who are the new faces that will be able to excite in the following world cups?

No one. The generational change in Tricolor It has not been entirely successful. The new wave of North Americans is more stimulating than the Mexican “promises.” Some of the footballers who won the bronze in lhe Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games they are still stuck in Liga MX (Alexis Vega, Uriel Antuna Y Sebastian Cordova)and those who could make the leap (John Vasquez Y Diego Lainez) have not given the sizes to transcend in Europe.

For this World Cup there is not a Mexican player who really arouses the illusion and raises his hand to be that new leader who arrives every 4 years. Attention has shifted more to the issue of who should not be in the final list for Qatar 2022.

And the problem is cyclical. As long as the new talents do not have enough experience on international stages, the importance of the Mexican National Team in the World Cups will be almost nil.

In a World Cup match it will be much more logical than John Reyna, a 19-year-old player who plays for Borussia Dortmund, resolves a closed scoreline, thanks to his experience in the Bundesliga; to Roberto Alvarado, who can only presume that he beats the flimsy defenses of the Mexican league.

There are fewer and fewer elements for Mexico to feel superior. History is an important pillar but it is not the only thing that can sustain the greatness of a country that was forged that way.

The Mexican National Team always liked to think that it was superior to the rest of the Concacaf teams, but everything that it built, like that myth of “the giant”, loses its validity. They are no longer the most valuable teamthey are not the one that displays the best football and much less are they the only hotbed of brilliant footballers in the area.

Mexico loses and loses value as time progressestheir progress has been so slow that teams like the United States or Canada have matched their steps in certain areas, such as the projection of players or their own World Cup aspirations.
