(CNN Spanish) — Between the right and the left, Latin America is divided into nuances that lead all countries to one or the other political spectrum. After years marked by the rise of left-wing governments in several countries in the region, the map changed for a few years with the coming to power of more right-wing governments like Argentina (which has already returned to a left-wing government with Alberto Fern├índez ) and Brazil, with the arrival of Jair Bolsonaro to the government, which will end on December 31, 2022, after Luiz In├ício Lula da Silva won the elections in October this year.

As of August 7, 2022, Colombia joined the list of countries governed by the left, after a historic election in which Gustavo Petro won, and that in addition, it will bring a black woman to power for the first time.

The ideology professed by the different regional executives is determined according to the definition of each party, as well as that of the platform or electoral alliance with which the president was elected.
