Wayne Rooney recognizes Cristiano Ronaldo, his former teammate, as one of the best players of all time. However, when talking about CR7’s attitudes in the recent past, Manchester United’s all-time top scorer did not hesitate to criticize him.

First, he commented that he does not think that, right now, the team is better with him on the field. Then, he assured that the behavior that he has had during the first half of the 2022/23 season is not acceptable in a club like the giant of Old Trafford.

In addition, he took advantage of the interview with TalkSPORT, to state that he disagrees with Roy Keane’s assessments. It seems incongruous to him that the Irish analyst tries to justify the actions of CR7. And it is that he, in his days as captain network devilI would never have allowed such a thing.

Is Manchester United a better team with Ronaldo inside? No I dont think so. He and Messi are probably the two of the best players of all time and you can lean either way between them. But I just think the things he has done since the start of the season are not acceptable to Manchester United. I’ve seen Roy Keane defending him. Roy wouldn’t accept that (in his playing days). He would not accept it in any way. It is a distraction that Manchester United does not need at the moment, that it is trying to build something.

“Cristiano must keep his head down, work and be ready when the coach needs him. If he does that, he will be a valuable asset. If he doesn’t, he will become an unwanted distraction.’

Rooney is liking Erik ten Hag’s management: “I think Ten Hag has done really well. He came and imposed his authority on the team. And for the first time in 2 or 3 years, I’m starting to see an identity at Manchester United. He has shown his strength and character with how he has dealt with Cristiano. He is the right man for the job. He will take time, but he is a step in the right direction to finish in the TOP 4 and return to Champions League football».

Undefeated data. Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney celebrated 10 titles together. Champions of just about everything, including 3 Premier League trophies, 1 UEFA Champions League and 1 Club World Cup.

Did you know…? Cristiano Ronaldo has only played 1051 minutes this season with Manchester United. He has recently started playing
