AMLO disapproves of blocking Cuba and questions Ukraine’s abstention: ‘What does he have to get into?’

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador criticized that even though 185 countries voted in the United Nations Organization (UN) against the economic blockade against Cubathis measure has been maintained due to the veto power of the US.

Although yesterday AMLO said that The US is in a position to change that policy.considered that maintaining the blockade is retrograde.

“Yesterday there was a vote at the UN and the same thing came back, 185 votes for the blockade to be lifted and two against and they exercise the right of veto. Where is this greatness? where is the high-flying politics? That’s very traditional, retrograde.”

President López Obrador questioned the role of Ukraine, who abstained in the vote at the United Nations, which he described as having little political sensitivity.

“Two abstentions: one Brazil and Ukraine. With all due respect, what do you have to get into? It is little political sensitivity.

The US government on Thursday voted again against a rannual resolution of the United Nations General Assembly that calls for an end to the economic embargo that Washington applies to Cuba.

The non-binding resolution was approved by 185 countries and only the United States and Israel opposedl, with the abstention of Brazil and Ukraine. It was the 30th time the United Nations had voted to end the embargo.
