SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Yonhap) — South Korean actor Song Joong-ki announced Monday that he just married British actress Katy Louise Saunders and that they are expecting a child together.
The 37-year-old actor shared the surprise news in a letter to his fan club, saying he had just completed marriage registration.
“I have made a promise to spend the rest of my life with Katy Louise Saundersas we love each other and have spent precious time together,” Song wrote in the letter. She also announced that a valuable new “life” will come to them, hinting at pregnancy.
Saunders is a 38-year-old British actress and model known for “Third Person” (2013), “The Borgias” (2006) and “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” (Lizzie Superstar) (2003).
Song said that she has a good heart, leads her life with passion, and is smart and nice. He added that thanks to her, he is becoming a “better person.”
It is not yet known if they will hold a wedding ceremony.
It is Song’s second marriage, following his divorce from South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo, his co-star in the 2016 mega-hit soap opera “Descendants of the Sun,” in 2019.
Since her debut in 2008, Song has appeared in several hit soap operas and movies. Her most recent series “Reborn Rich” ended on December 25 with the highest viewership ratings of 2022 for a South Korean series.
